I swear there were enemies in SW1, specifically Shamans, where I couldn't even tell if I was damaging them or not, even when I emptied all four barrels of the shotgun into their face multiple times. Kamiko's interactions with Wang also tend to be at least somewhat amusing, if a bit scarce once you go grinding. The shooting feels fine, the swordplay works, the enemy dismemberment and ragdolling system adds a bit of spice to the combat, and the way resistances work means that you have to keep switching out the weapon you're using, which does its part to prevent things from getting boring. However, for all that, the base gameplay works. I'm also not entirely fond of the way the guns you get early in the game are obsoleted by guns you get late in the game. While it does mean that the devs didn't have to put as much effort into level design, it also means that every level that uses a given tileset looks almost exactly the same. In my opinion, the game suffers for the switch to procedural level generation.
